Our two-night honeymoon stay at Oliphant in Nuwara Eliya was nothing short of magical. This beautifully preserved 1800s property, nestled within a tea plantation, perfectly balances historical elegance with intimate boutique hotel service. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay memorable, especially during my husband's birthday celebration. They arranged beautiful room decorations and even helped me in surprising my husband with a cake – touches that made the occasion truly special. The hotel's location is a highlight, offering peaceful morning walks through the surrounding tea plantation. The property's rich heritage is evident in every corner, providing an authentic glimpse into Sri Lanka's colonial past. Special mention must go to Lakshman, whose attentive service really made our experience special. The entire staff demonstrated professionalism while maintaining a warm, personal approach. The food was delicious and the chef went out of his way to prepare a beautiful cake for us during our stay! For those seeking a tranquil retreat in Nuwara Eliya with impeccable service, Oliphant is an outstanding choice. It's perfect for couples wanting an intimate, peaceful escape with personalized attention.

Oliphant is located in the highest tea plantation in Sri Lanka. The hotel is an old colonial building used by the tea plantation and beautifully converted and preserved. We had a large bedroom and bathroom, beautifully furnished with a four poster and all comforts. It really felt like home from home. The location is spectacular. We had a couple of walks up the hillside through the tea plantations, and there are great views. It gets chilly at night, as it's so high, so take a layer (there are also heaters in the bedroom). In the daytime the sky was a brilliant blue. The staff were delightful and very attentive. The food (dinner and breakfast) was very high quality. They have a wonderful chef, who makes everything from scratch, including breakfast jams. I totally recommend their Sri Lankan curry for dinner. It was the best we had in Sri Lanka, delicate and full of flavour. Just be aware that it's freshly cooked so you need to give an hour's notice when ordering. We only stayed one night on our way to Yala, we would definitely stay for longer next time. Memorable and authentic, thank you to the staff!

Nestled amidst a serene tea plantation, this hotel in Nuwara Eliya offers a truly unique and picturesque getaway. The beauty of the property is breathtaking, with lush green hills and rows of tea plants stretching as far as the eye can see. You’re surrounded by nature, making it a peaceful escape from city life. The staff deserves a special mention for their warmth and hospitality. From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed by their friendliness and attentiveness. They went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable, making our stay even more enjoyable. The rooms are clean, cozy, and well-designed to blend with the natural surroundings, allowing guests to relax and unwind fully. Waking up to views of misty hills and fresh tea plantations was a highlight. Overall, if you’re looking for a tranquil experience combined with beautiful scenery and exceptional service, this hotel is a perfect choice. Highly recommended for nature lovers and those seeking a relaxing retreat in the heart of Sri Lanka’s tea country.

Beautiful peaceful location out of town, beside the highest village in Sri Lanka. Surrounded by tea plantations and other small cultivations, and inside the grounds is a perfectly tended garden and very professional welcome from the small team. Short walks available to a viewpoint amongst the tea. Room and bathroom both spacious and as in the photos. Dinner and breakfast both delicious. The banana bread in particular! No problem to order us a taxi to go to the station the next morning too. More expensive than the average accommodation, but certainly value for money compared to other similar high-end “boutique” accommodations in Sri Lanka (which can start at $900 per night - and I’m not sure the extra butler would be worth the difference!)

Wonderful big and cozy rooms. Perfect light concept and high class furniture. Operating since 2017, so all still looks very fresh and inviting in English country style design with modern touch. In short it was perfect. Lakshman and his team were so friendly and give high class service. Exceeded all expectations. 12 points out of 10. Dinner and breakfast were top. Opening the windows for fresh air in the morning - super, after the heat in the cultural triangle. For once you appreciate the heater instead of aircon. Tea plantations walk behind the house is unforgettable. Oliphant is a place you don’t want to leave. Two nights stay recommended. Very quiet location in a gardenstyle setting. 7 rooms.
